Book of the Day:
As many of you know I work for an Ethnic Studies department at a university in an administrative position. I am in charge of the ES library:) I decided to start featuring books from our awesome library—partly out of boredom and partly to bring greater exposure to books written by and about POC.
Today, I grabbed four books to read over the next few weeks but for today I wanted to show the first one I intend on reading. It is called The Miraculous Day of Amalia Gomez by John Rechy and its title references the main character’s sighting of a silver cross in the sky. And since it is Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupeit seemed quite fitting to start this today. Now I love literature and theory related to chicanism@ so my selection will be biased but I will try and mix it up. I’ll let you all know what i think after I read it. Maybe if I read fast enough, I can review books after I read them:)
Also, if anyone wants a list of the over 800 books we have in our library, just let me know—it’s a great resource.
